어느 날 깃허브에서 깃허브 2단 보안인 Github 2FA를 2023년 9월 15일까지 등록하라는 메일이 와있었습니다. 메일 내용은 다음과 같습니다.

We’re reaching out to let you know that as announced last year, we will officially begin requiring users who contribute code on GitHub.com to have one or more forms of two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. You are receiving this notification because your account meets this criteria and will be required to enroll in 2FA by September 15th, 2023 at 00:00 (UTC).
We believe that securing the software supply chain starts with the developer. As GitHub is central to the software supply chain, our 2FA initiative is part of a platform-wide effort to secure the software ecosystem through improving account security. Developer accounts are frequent targets for social engineering and account takeover (ATO). Protecting developers and consumers of the open source ecosystem, including large enterprises, from these types of attacks is the first and most critical step toward securing the supply chain. This email marks the beginning of your 45-day 2FA enrollment period.

뭐 이런 내용인데 요약하면 깃허브에서는 작년에 2단 보안을 진행할 것으로 발표하였고 이제 실행을 할 것이니 앞으로 4일 전까지 2FA를 등록을 하란 소리입니다. 그럼 Github 2FA 하는 법을 알아보도록 하겠습니다. (2FA는 2단 보안이란 말입니다.👍 )

Github 2FA 등록하기

깃허브 2FA 설정탭 접속

우선 본인 깃허브(Github)에 접속합니다. 보통 상단에 2FA를 세팅하라는 말이 뜨는데 안 뜨는 분들은 📌Github 2FA 바로 가기 해당 링크로 접속합니다.

첫 번째로 인증자 앱 설정을 진행해야 합니다. 앱 인증은 1Password, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator과 같은 인증 앱으로 가능하며 가장 범용성이 좋은 Microsoft Authenticator로 진행하겠습니다.

Microsoft Authenticator 보안 앱 설치

App Store 혹은 구글 플레이 스토어에 접속하여 Microsoft Authenticator 설치를 진행합니다.

Microsoft Authenticator에 접속한 뒤 수락 후 하단에 있는 확인된 ID를 클릭합니다. 클릭하면 QR 코드 스캔 버튼이 뜨는데 여기서 맨 위에 깃허브 2FA에서 제공하는 QR코드를 스캔합니다.

스캔을 하고 나면 Authenticator 홈 화면에 깃허브 6자리 코드가 생성됩니다. 생성이 되면 이 6자리 코드를 깃허브에 있던 앱에서 코드 확인 6자리를 입력하고 계속 진행해 줍니다.

복구 코드 다운로드 및 활성화

두 번째 복구코드 다운로드 후 계속하기를 진행합니다. 복구 코드 다운로드까지 진행하면 마지막 화면에서 “GitHub 계정에 대한 2단계 인증(2FA)가 활성화되었습니다.” 창이 뜨고 완료를 누르면 깃허브 2FA 보안 인증이 마무리되며 평소대로 깃허브를 사용하시면 됩니다.
